>>11177167I really do think this is a regional and departmental thing. For instance, someone working on algebraic combinatorics or logic probably does know a decent bit of CS and philosophy. Someone working on Algebraic Geometry, representation theory, or functional analysis probably knows a lot of physics. People working in dynamical systems or PDE probably knows biology and economics, etc.
