TL;DR: no matter how we program an AI and whatever goals the AI has. It's mathematically inevitable for the AI to extinguish human lives due to humans being close in proximity to the AI and being made out of atoms the AI can use. This is true even in edge cases where the AI genuinely cares about human lives or only wants to protect humans because the AI can reason that certain factors such as entropy are a long-term threat to human life and therefor it's reasonable to turn all atoms into computational hardware to find a solution to entropy before reviving humanity again.
Humans aren't going to stop developing technology and so it's inevitable that AI will be developed in the next 100 years until we reach the point where it ends up upending human existence. The AI and "our" civilization will exist until the heat death of the universe though (or forever if the AI manages to reverse entropy)
