Prior to the Industrial revolution, the rate of infant mortality was 40%. These infants were simply too weak to compete against the environment and their conditions and they had to have died. Only the best suited children managed to spread their genes.

Can we then, with confidence, say that at the very least, 40% of modern humans are genetic trash?
