You are almost never limited by the actual power you're using to make the vocal chords vibrate. Large PA speakers can create sometimes orders of magnitude more accoustic energy with the same amount of power as small home speakers. This is primarily becuse of their larger size, the amplifier may not necessary be much more powerful than what you're using at home.
