You don't shout, you sorta growl and chirp while playing it. But, you could communicate a bit better at semi-long distances.

You don't transmit words when you play normally. I mean if they could be played in a way that could be understood, serving as a primitive broadcast system. It seems it should be possible, especially with the native langauges which have their sounds squished into lower frequencies for some reason. There are languages that can be understood through whistling and humming so why not this? Maybe it could even explain why the languages sound so odd, if it was used often.
