Viruses don't need food in the traditional sense, any nutrients are used only to build more of themselves using structures from other cells, what you are saying doesn't make much sense. What matters is that in hostile chemical/physical environment viruses denaturate, deactivate and eventually fall apart, and to make a virus airborne it would have to make airborne fomites, with some tiny particulate matter that you could inhale, but that's a very demanding environment for a virus to survive.
