Honestly, this has been so damn annoying since I was a kid and I'm struggling to get to the bottom of it one and for all. GATHER AROUND SCIENTISTS!
So we all know the doppler effect. Interference pattern. Everything is a wave, etc.
My problem is how it's explained to people as if there is some great inexplicable subjectivity to science and i need your help to get to the bottom of this bullshit.
WHAT IS DESCRIBED:
"we see the doppler effect, until we try observe how it behaves (True so far). But it the particles know when we are looking at them! So they behave like regular particles instead of waves when we look at them! (grooooaaaan)"
THE OBVIOUS CONCLUSION (from a simple minded fool like myself): "Clearly your measurement instrument is interfering with the wave behaviour by interacting with whatever medium this wave is produced in"
WHY I AM ANNOYED (and my question): They never mention what the instrument used to measure the individual particles going through each single slit is.
I was REALLY hoping someone could tell me what instrument(s) they were using to accomplish this interference. (I'm assuming some other frequency of light which would obviously interfere with tiny particle wave interference. Right?)
