>>11163154It reduced the chance of you contracting flu. Two years ago I got it for the first time in living memory; I used to live in the UK for the last 10 years before coming to the US, and over there the flu shot is recommended for certain groups only. I am modestly fit, run a few half-marathons a year, I want to think I eat alright.
The flu fucking kicked my ass. It started on a Saturday afternoon, just feeling a bit warm and tired. By evening my temperature climbed to 38C. By bedtime, I was at 40C. Muscle and joint pain, feeling miserable already. For the next 6 days, I couldn't eat properly, lost about 1kg per day, I had fever dreams, regularly woke up in the middle of the night drenched in cold sweat. After the fever subsided about 8 days in, I got a chest infection that kept me inside the house for another two weeks. I couldn't breathe properly, so even walking up and down the stairs would leave me breathless for about 2 minutes. IT FUCKING SUCKS HARD.
The flu shot can reduce your chance of having to deal with this, so I'm gonna fucking have it every year.
