I say that the airflow to normilize the preassure difference generated by the fly will transform in to a Temperature increase instead of contributing to the weight on the scale.

It looks like the top is open which would allow majority of the downward force from the flies to escape into the environment

Newtons third law demands that it read an average of 1.5 kg. If not, the jar + flies system must have a net acceleration, meaning it wouldn't stay on the scale.

Yep, clear demonstration that scale will read thrust. And if the flies maintain altitude in the box scale will be 1.5 . With slight flucuations depending on if flies are gaining height or losing it.

Doesn't matter if closed or not. If flies are pushing air for upward force, that air will have to push down with the same force to keep the fly up.
