Should humanity invest in a panspermia project and attempt to seed the universe with earth-evolved organic life, regardless whether we manage to colonize other planets or not?

I believe that it is the best choice. We don't know whether any other life exists in the universe, but we are sure that there is life over here that's definitely gonna go extinct when the sun goes Red Giant, and possibly before that, something bad happens to the planet.

I reckon we should load up primitive bacteria, fungi, plankton, various extremophiles into tiny pods, freeze them, and scatter millions of them out into the universe, while also sending a handful of them into specific targets we can aim at.
