Because the kind of people drawn to special high-IQ clubs are exactly the kind who see their intelligence as an achievement in itself. They are content to know that, if they so chose, they could be a famous and highly respected member of some intellectual domain. So they rest on their laurels, and are thus not inclined to make any real contributions to a field, although they probably could if they had the drive to do so.

They are 9.2%, 3.2%, and 4.7% worse at verbal, reasoning, and numbers, respectively.They are 4.1% worse overall.

Also, the 0.58% is probably within the margin of error when expanding it to a larger population (and not just college students who will tend to be smarter)

Interesting to see that math/physics/engineering students in ETH zurich (which is top 5 uni in the world) have only 115 spatial and verbal IQ on average. The spike in their overall score is because of the numerical part which standard IQ test doesn't measure, at least not in a way that give it a whole category and weight like spatial and verbal.

So the myth you need 125+ IQ in tests like WAIS to enter and graduate in STEM from ivy league uni proven wrong.
