How safe is having a meteorite in my living room?

Hi nerds!
A relative mine gave me a meteorite as gift a few months ago. Few days ago I noticed something very weird on this rock: a thing like dust began to appear on this meteorite(see picture attached)

The most weird is that this dust only appears on the exposed side of meteorite(my relative saved a piece for himself, that's why you can see a cut). I have no idea what the fuck is this dust, it feels like sand. This thing it looks like a kind of white moss.

Should I be worried?
Is this thing coming from meteorite or from the environment?

that part is meant to reflect the fact that if you didn't see it fall out of the sky it's probably not a meteorite, and even if you did see it fall out of the sky it might still not be.

Use a gieger counter on it to see if its radioactive. Keep it in a glass case and don't handle it with your bare hands.

That way even if you don't know shit about shit it can't possibly harm you

also the dust could be some sort of oxidation reaction creating some other derivative mineral depending on its composition, and since it isn't rusting, perhaps its a different element or than iron. Stars poop out a lot of heavy elements.

Doesnt look like a meteorite too me. And if it was radioactive you would suffer burns and flesh decomposition already after month of contact. Which doesn't mean that it might be toxic anyway. Looks like some minerals inside of it react to oxygen.
Greyish green-blueish color often means oxydisation of some sort.
