Why does our neural network create a sense of touch for example, why not just process it "blind" like how it knows the position of our limbs? I mean there are people who can react to visual stimuli whilst not seeing anything. And fish have that sensor on their sides to react to light outside their eyesight, and I doubt they actually "see" that light.
