I'm a sci-fi writer, trying to take hard science and use them, if not properly, then in the spirit of things for my own fiction work.
Lately I've been trying to better understand the science of explosions, and put them towards things like comic book or high fantasy super powers. Specifically, an explosion.
What I need is both a unit of measure or two. I need to know what unit of measurement is used to calculate the pressure exerted on a body or a substance by an explosion. The pressure per second, or something. Some way to measure the shock at which a person is getting slammed and by how much at a time.
Is it measured by pascal per time per time? Or.. help me here. I wanna know how fast a proper explosion in the atmosphere takes place, how much a human body can take without injury to the skin vs. blowing apart in a flash boiled shattered mess. I wanna know how many calories of kaboom results in radius/size of explosion.
