1. Epsilon-delta proofs are not at all complicated.They're very elementary and intuitive, any person with an IQ above 100 could prove all the basic properties of continuity like continuity of polynomials, trig functions etc, given a week at most.
2. Many wrong propositions were made (even by geniuses like Euler) concerning analysis before the epsilon-delta formalism was introduced, because people relied on intuition rather than rigor. Turns out that's a slippery slope.

Honestly, if you find epsilon-delta confusing, you should probably go back to the very basics, because you're going to have a hard time. Maybe pick up a book on proofs or elementary logic (normally I don't recommend people do this because its unnecessary, but you seem to be a special case). Good luck.

Yes, they're extremely autistic. There's no need to calculate the exact boundaries like they did, you can do it all by hand by just plugging in the numbers. The whole exercise is highly autistic and nothing like what you do in analysis. You typically prove that x is continuous, fg is continuous for f and g continuous, constant functions are continuous and sums of continuous functions are continuous. From this you get that all polynomials are continuous etc. Nobody cares about actually finding the delta for a given epsilon for a given polynomial, that's retarded.

You have a vastly inflated sense of how intelligent 100IQ actually is. Having said that, I basically hated math until I finally saw that limits, big-O etc. could actually be defined with epsilon-delta shit, because prior to that all the shit felt arbitrary and impossible to really reason about beyond handwavy "I'm the teacher and you need to accept that this is right" crap. God I love analysis. Fuck "dude, just mash these infinite sums together, it just werks".

I disagree with this. The average person, let alone adult isn't capable of this.

I also recommend looking into topology. Epsilon-delta didn't completely sit well with me until I took a class in topology. Now it's the most intuitive thing, and I think it's a wonderful definition.
