how do we save humanity, /sci/? the global iq is dropping, climate change is steadily getting worse and worse, diseases are running rampant etc. now, obviously we can just save a portion. how do we do it?

Not significant. You say this as if the case was that everyone's IQ is getting lower but any knowledge of statistics would contradict this. Low IQ people have a higher probability of mating with other Low IQ people, and thus creating more low IQ people. Average IQs fall not because IQs fall, but because the denominator keeps getting bigger. IQ distribution will tend towards an increasingly smaller (in percent) high IQ elite (CEOs, businessmen, other executives) micro-managing an increasingly bigger (in percent) low IQ cattle work-force. The world could not be more efficient.

The same reasoning goes towards the other categories. Is it really that bad that the cattle work-force will be dying younger because of disease? As long as Juan mates with Juanita to give me Juanito to replace Juan in the factory, all is fine and dandy.

Homo sapiens have been around for at least 400,000 years (maybe more, who knows). Last ice age began 100,000 years ago and ended 10,000 years ago. The only cultivable land south of Europe during the ice age was the Levant - and what the fuck do you know? That's also the cradle of human civilization.

Coincidence? Fuck not. We've been around for a long long time - we've triggered climate change before - and we survived. To get an edge over human labor, we've created the A.I. Imagine a deep equatorial trench on mars, artificially excavated, vis a vis deathstar. Could a big enough trench capture and concentrate a useful aliquot of Martian air?

Martian iron deposits could feed crusher-smelter droids, materials feed fabricators which make excavator droids in house, much cheaper than flying them all from Earth. The technology isn’t here yet of course.

What kind of human arises in such a low-gravity environment? Even granted radiation shielding those will be some wierd kids I reckon.

We really should sort out geoengineering Earth before trying somewhere new.

Alright, so this is obviously /v/ related, but what does /sci/ think of Death Stranding's premise and the idea of Homo Ludens in general? Kojima definitely has some imteresting ideas about where humanity might be headed in a world where climate change and mass extinction are the norm.

Homo Ludens is a book written by a Dutch cultural theorist that talks about the necessity of 'play' in societal structures. Basically, he states that play is primal and integral to humanity and life in general and has helped our world become what it is today. What is our society without pleasure?
Kojima takes this and combimes it with a Strugatsky novel called the Time Wanderers which DS also takes heavy inspiration from. In that novel though, as I imderstand it, Homo Ludens are a literal sapient race that branched off from humanity. In DS though, I believe that the majority of the cast are Ludens as they don't really need to do anything but entertain themselves. Although the world is mostly destroyed, mankind reached a level of automation where machines do most everything and we just have to sit back and bide our time in what's left of our world. DS is (as I understand it) about taking the reins and combining that technogy with cooperation and self sufficiency and what we can become as a people when we learn to grow together.
