Trough contamination I have to separate chloroform from acetone but distillation is not helping. Most likely because of an azeotrope it formed with acetone.
My suggestion is to wash it with distilled water and separate the aqueous layer from the chloroform in hope that the acetone is dissolving in the water. If there is any remaining acetone in the chloroform will I be able to distill it if the concentration is low enough? Or do you think washing will dissolve all acetone, if any?
