Why do you think that photons do not have mass? It has mass, but since it is in the state of energy, at certain point it would be transformed into a more massive object, at a certain convertion point.
It's so evident that photons have mass that gravity pulls it. Gravity doesn't do anything against space. It's the spinning effect of particles that create the gravitational effect. It's all about attrition.
It's even a contradiction to affirm that when an object is in space it creates an effect of attraction ("space-time distortion"). Everything around it would be pushed away because the object would be looking for its slot in space. Isn't it Mr. Einstein?
When an object travels around the space it is pulling everything away (space is fullfiled) and at the same time, thanks to its spinning particles there is a gravitational effect of attraction.
An elementary particle that doesn't spin wouldn't have gravity and would pull things away when travelling around space.
