Literally what is the problem with automation? Why would it be a bad thing if no human on the planet worked?

Please no speculation about how not working might affect people psychologically, I just want to talk about this from a purely economic perspective.

Instead of having 20 Bezos ruling the world you will just have 20 bolsheviks in an office tyrannizing everyone.

Humans seek dominance, especially males since we're a tournament species, civilization provided us a way to play the tournament in a relatively peaceful way up until now.
Automate evrything, put a bunch of idle men only getting crumbs and you will soon have a revolution on your hands.

That said automation has began long ago and the elite coped with that by creating bullshit jobs, it's a trend I expect to see continue. If the internet keeps growing then the economy of the future will be an attention economy (with a handful of families controlling the material economy).
That's a very bad news for the autists or sub 8/10 males of the future.

this is non sequitur, automation of a job title, industry or even multiple industries does not result in the people working in those industries permanently unemployed. those people displaced by automation either look for other non-automated jobs in the same industry (further training sometimes required) or switch industries altogether. just as automation has the power to render individual job positions and industries obsolete there are always new industries and new job positions being created and usually at an equal or faster rate.

it's a common public misconception that automation is this huge incoming threat that will displace a great number of people from the workforce, often pushed the hardest by those with little to no understanding of economics at all. as long as the *rate* at which automation is implemented is low (which it almost always will be as technological developments take time and are usually job specific) then it is unlikely that any unprecedented unemployment epidemic will ever occur. will it happen at certain times to certain specific industries over the next 100 years? yes and many will claim this as evidence of their 'warnings' but that's expected behavior of the free market system, markets come and go regardless of advanced automation and industries become more efficient requiring less man power to operate.

You have clearly never seen someone promoted out of the way.
I have worked for a few companies where staff brought over major customers with them when joining the company. Due to these connections and an unwillingness to lose those customers these people were kept on despite dangerous incompetence but to limit the damage they could cause they were "promoted" into possitions designed to keep them away from the actual running of the business.
One was made the "safety coordinator" despite all projects having their own OH&S reps and systems, he was simply given a copy of everything the guys on site got and told to sort and file it.
Another was given the job of "hardware assessment" where he was given a pile of PLCs (electrical company) and told to learn how to program them all and report on their strengths and weaknesses. We had 2 PLC guys on site and the hardware was determined by the customer, the "assessor" never did any coding used on actual projects.

Companies find and get rid of some bullshit jobs when budget eventually pressures them to look for that sort of thing. It's a real phenomenon.

I have 2 diversity hires in my team of 10 people, they were absolutely useless initially so we tried to train them (it did not work).
After 18 months we actually lost productivity because everytime we tried to implicate them in the process they were too slow and the result almost always required to redo the task.
My boss tried to have them moved to another department but the HR was adamant they had to stay here because it filled the quota.

Today we make them input lists in excel and events in the calendar (something we could probably deal with few macros), they spend most of their days browsing facebook, texting and playing minigames.

That aside: automation isn't bad, it's being praised across the board. How do you think services like youtube, instagram, tiktok and 99% of all the crowdfunding projects have gotten traction? Work today isn't really necessary for survival. It's mostly distraction and a way to keep people occupied.

Well sex work is a job frequently taken by people with no skill in other way, have amazing bodies, need money fast, are lazy, etc.
