Please can someone explain this apparent contradiction? Is the resolution alpha particle the equivalent of a bunch alpha photon?
in that case what would it mean to have a single alpha photon, since you can't have a fraction of an alpha particle.
same question for gamma and beta radiation. a beta ray is more iodising than a gamma ray so must carry more energy. if a beta particle is equivalent to many beta photons then what would that mean? It;s not like you can split an electron into bits , so how could there be such a thing as a single beta photon?
also , the frequency of electro magnetic waves is a continuous quantity, so as you increase the frequency from beta radiation to gamma radiation, at what point do you go from an electron to no electron? How do you get a discontinuous change like electron to no- electron from continuously increasing the frequency?
