The original 97% consensus paper achieved that high figure by taking a survey and then removing 99% of the scientists who did not agree from the sample. With them not removed, the number was about 35%, which is certainly not a consensus at all.

Even assuming anthropomorphic climate change is fake, why anyone would want to shill the continued usage of petrochemicals which have other far more demonstrable side effects is beyond me. Yes, brother let us pollute the oceans more with toxic plastics and leech methane into our water supplies. I too seek to chain our civilization to an energy source doomed to run out within our lifetimes rather than searching for alternatives.

Most deniers of global climate change are almost all shills for the petrochemicals industry in one way or another. I do not distinguish arguments because the argument is just a Trojan horse for petrochemicals in the same way that environmental concerns have become a Trojan horse for socialism.
