Biology fag applying to medical school. To be honest, I did not know what a doctor of osteopathic medicine was until I was an undergraduate. It seems to me like there are negative sentiments associated with DOs, but I can't completely figure out why. I understand it is easier to get into DO school, but beyond that I am unsure of any significant differences.

I've been told that the DO school curriculum is nearly the same as allopathic med schools, they make around the same salary as MDs, they have most of the same options for specialization as MDs, and DOs can gain entry to MD residency programs.

I am (for the time being at least) still planning on applying to allopathic medical schools. But I'd greatly appreciate any corrections on what I mentioned above and any input on this seemingly negative attitude towards DOs (and perhaps whether or not it is warranted?).
