They don't have the feel to have to compete with the outsider. Cats have a similar behavioural pattern. If the cat isn't scared you can usually touch them but certain cats can't stand each other. Despite eating from the same bowl and sleeping 5 meters apart for years they always start fighting when they come to close. It's the same with humans. You can project all the things like virtues, thoughts and cutesyness on animals without your social instincts interfering. Don't even try to pretend that you aren't controlled by herd instincts. For some people those instincts also apply for animals and for others they don't. I mean my brother regularly gets angry at the cat because apparently it's lazy and entitled. It's a fucking cat. This cats probably has no notion of "I". It simply acts like what it is because it is what it is.
