Its called HEC-RAS. Freely available software from US corps if engineers. The theoretical background of such "finite element analysis" is very powerfull. I use it often at work when im modeling flood protections of bridges/dams and such.

Correction of the flowrate. This bad boy spews out 200 000 000m3/s or 200 000 000 000 l/s. Noah is turning in the grave. Biblical porpotions.

The TC solver used by Hec-ras uses earth gravity i guess so to modify that you have to mingle with flow engine which i dont dare for the sake of current projects. The software is unstable enough already.

That true but the floodwave also moves through the sediment. So i assumed the soil being highly permeable. But you are right of course. Surface water should be faster than sediment wave.
