We create garbage at an exponential rate. Why has science failed to fix this problem? Why can't garbage be cremated and the fumes filtered/cleaned before releasing them to the atmosphere?

Because in a perfect world most of our "garbage" would be reclaimable. This doesn't happen because over half the garbage produced (and half of all things produced) is just plastic packaging eg blister packs for consumer goods or shrinkwrap for pallets that is not recyclable or reclaimable. It is single use only and when that use is complete it can either be burned into toxic gas or put into the ground where it can compress into toxic gas. Millions of years from now it will return into an oily sludge, which it began as.

Blame the petrolchemical industry for this, it's more proftiable to make a million plastic items that are 50% packaging than it is to make 1 million reusable, recyclable metal or wood items without any packaging.

It’s because capitalism’s profit motive is fueled by the energy differential of ecological metabolic rifts.

As above, blame the petrochemical industry. Cheap energy makes possible gratuitous waste.

Why has science is unable to fix this problem? How is it impossible to find a way to filter/clean fumes of cremated garbage and make it into a profitable industry?

You’re focusing on the wrong end of the equation. The solution is trivial: produce less waste.

Consumer capitalism is criminally unsustainable. It needs to be stopped, violently if necessary, and humanity needs to reinvent low-impact lifestyles.

Solution?
get a dollar per american, get 10 electrostatic precipitators, line 2 E.P., use the principle of a water vacuum in huge pools like the ones in the mining companies, burn tons of waste per day and send those residues near radioactive residues.

Well according to this website which took 2 seconds to find on google, we do. About 12% of U.S. municipal waste is used for energy production. And yes the fly ash is generally captured and used for bricks or cinder blocks or whatever.

Why don't we do it more? Cost -- it really is cheaper to bury it, and we are nowhere near to running out of space in the good old US of A (literally thousands of square miles of deserts where no one lives).

What about the third world? Kek, you need to actually get waste collection there first then decide what to do with it.

You can, look a Japan. Great recycling effort and burn the rest. Garbage isn't really a problem for continental powers, still plenty of cheap places and holes in the ground to dump things. The problem with burning after filtration is you just released all that CO2 again but that can be offset especially if your power is nuclear.

In the event of civilizational collapse these are going to be rich resource piles for jumpstarting technology again. If anything they will probably curse the recycling movement since you have to dig through those layers to get to the good stuff deeper down.

That's a stupid "solution". It does not even solve the problem anyway, it just makes the problem progress slower.

Germany, Sweden and Netherlands dump less than 1 % of their waste to landfills. They recycle/burn the rest. When 3rd world countries (including the U.S.) catch up, waste will be a non-issue.

Contrary to what normies think general garbage like pic are pretty much entirely irrelevant. The planet is massive, our total physical footprint is tiny. The issue is people throwing shit out they shouldnt, and placing landfills in stupid spots because of economic incentives (some cities straight dumping it in the ocean being the best example). Ideally garbage is properly pre sorted before being dumped in an area that is stable enough to last until it becomes economically viable to reclaim the garbage.

This can be done. It's actually done in Sweden. I think it's far from the perfect approach at managing trash, but it's definitely the best humanity has currently. Aside from making things biodegradable to begin with and recycling, of course.

My country barely produces any garbage and we import trash for Italy to incinerate it.

Science can't fix human nature (at least not yet). It doesn't matter that we have the capability to solve the garbage problem, because people won't do it because it would slightly inconvenience them. People in general don't give a flying fuck about others, they don't even really care about themselves beyond what their flawed worldview makes them think they can gain within the next five minutes.
