How do you cope with the depression of going to a mediocre university for undergrad because you didnt have the wisdom and perspective needed to try hard in high school?

Nowadays I do good in university because I appreciate learning things and I know I'm meant to get pleasure from math and science and history, not from socializing. But in high school I didnt yet accept that I'm an autistic freak, so I went a little crazy in chasing the social pleasure that I couldn't get, distracting me from education. No one ever told me "son, since you're autistic, you are meant to get your pleasure in life from learning things. Other people are meant to get pleasure from going to the movies with their friends, or from kissing, and they make good grades only because they enjoy making their family proud. But son, you are not one of those people. Some people are meant to be around other people, and others, like you, are meant to be nerds who do calculus problems for fun, and that is fine, because recreational socializing is not universal. The sooner you accept this, you will succeed, otherwise you will drive yourself crazy trying to get something you cant do, distracting yourself from learning, and then you will have nothing, not a social life nor an education."
