I agree with you, I imagine the meaning is just something created by the human mind because of a need to explain and understand. I imagine we are simply a bunch of phenomenons that aren't different to rest of the universe, but I don't really know.

There is none, life is a sandbox. You're just supposed to experience things and then die, that's when you get reincarnated and it starts all over again, perhaps there are higher levels to it, maybe there are links between lives, something you do here might affect your next life

In short, living organism's function is to increase the universe's entropy.

The universe's final fate is heat death. It will get there via entropy. It started in a low entropy state (pre big bang) and will end in the highest entropy state (heat death). Therefore, the universe's main goal is increasing entropy to get there as fast as possible. In order to do so, it has created individual closed systems that are low entropy themselves (stars, living things) but that ultimately accelerate entropy on their environment in order to sustain their own system's integrity (stars explode in a supernova mess and increase entropy on their surroundings, humans destroy their own surroundings in order to survive). We are nothing but biological machines created by the universe to help it accelerate its own demise.

now that humans are able to think about the process in-depth that idea seems lame or unfulfilling (at least to some people), so the practical meaning of life for those disenchanted with this concept is to find something they're passionate about and do it until they find something else to be passionate about

As an individual the meaning of life is to maximize the spread of your genes to the next generation and then help the next generation to do the same.
Everything you do in between reproducing and raising your kid is passing time or maximizing your chances through strategies.

Of course since we're all humans, the vast majority of our genes are already similar and we don't have to go full tournament (even if sometimes we do, like when we do wars) and in fact have to work together to keep dominating all other lifeforms or just not going extinct.

The purpose of life is simple:
To survive, adapt and evolve.

Now, if you ask the purpose of the whole universe then my take is that God simply wanted a way to generate new information, concepts, experiences, etc.
