The most simple interpretation is that we are giving one subset of objects to person A, and the rest to person B.
In this case it would be 2^4 ways.
Making it a bit more complicated we may consider splitting the 4 objects into a variable number of piles. And consider the piles to be indistinguishable, so that (1 2)(3 4) is the same division as (3 4)(1 12)
With this interpretation, there is 1 way to make one pile. 4+3 ways to make two piles, 3 ways to make three piles, and 1 way to make four piles for a total of 1+7+3+1=12.
We have so far considered the objects to be indivisible. But you may meant hat any object can itself be divided. In that case I guess infinite / it depends.
