hey /sci/ im applying to graduate school right now and my top choice is UMich for photonics. I am finishing a degree in chemical engineering and my GPA is 3.6 I really want to research metamaterials but I feel like my resume isn't good enough for a school like umich, I have research and speak another language but damn, these groups are 80% SE asian.

I just want to work in industry and some say that school ranking doesnt really matter. Is this true? Any other advice for grad school? Did you go to grad school right after undergrad? What are your thoughts on it? Did you have a good statement of purpose? Sorry for the blogpost
