What the fuck is this Dark Matter shit? I've done some basic research on it but it sounds like some ad hoc bullshit. Thoughts?

Also, is Dark Energy related?

Dark Matter/Energy are place holders to explain what's going on in the universe observed by our telescopes. Standard model of physics every known particle/forces in the universe and its very, very accurate in both mathematical/theoretical and experimental results. From experimental pov, we're done. However the universe is not done. How the universe looks is not how the standard model predicts. So we're left with few options. "Everything we know is wrong" so we're back to "God did it" for answers. That's not science. There are others that make alternative theories like string theory and such, but they cannot be experimentally proven. The only valid option left is our standard model is incomplete. Since the known standard model works exceptionally well in our experiments about known particles/forces, what's out in our universe is something we have not understood yet. That's the dark matter/energy.

Its what happens when physicists are too cockheaded to admit they don't have a damn clue, so they just give it a name and try to pretend they discovered something new. They literally didn't discover dark matter. It's just a rebranding their ignorance.
