Ok so let me get this straight.

All logic, all common sense, just step the fuck out of the way or big daddy light's gonna run you over, is that it?

Nothing can slow light down, some things try, but light just says, nah, I'm not getting slower, you're just getting longer.

Surfaces don't "absorb" or "reflect" light, light just folds space in on itself to make the surfaces feel like they accomplished something.

Light is never late to the party, the originating frame of reference is just early. If something happens, and the light hasn't reached you yet, it literally hasn't happened yet with respect to you, your position in time is different from that of the light's origin.
