I'm not sure if this is positive or negative, but why do you want to go to an alien planet?
If you want to hang out with really different lifeforms go to an aquarium, or scuba diving, or a zoo, or go overseas to a country with a really different culture.
That's exactly what going and meeting aliens would be like, like are you hoping the aliens will look like hot chicks and it will turn into an orgy or something.
Go hang out with an octopus.
Job done.
If you like bizarre landscapes earth has heaps, also try scuba diving.
Or go to the snow, or go to the desert, or go to the forest,
If your hoping alien planets are like in avatar you are going to be disappointed.
Experiment with psychedelics.
I went to dozens of alien planets and met lots of alien creatures.
They were hallucinations but they felt real ;)
Way safer than intergalactic space travel with experimental warp drives.
Virtual reality is getting really good, in ten years it should be incredible.
Just VR a sweet avatar style planet with all the aliens you could ever want to interact with.
If you would like to go to mars just setup the inside of a bus to look like a spaceship, drive to the middle of a barren, hot AF desert, make yourself a spacesuit and pretend you are on Mars, how will you know the difference.
I think we need to remember that star trek isn't real.
The aliens aren't going to look like humans and wear clothes and speak English and have a similar timeline and be compatible with Human culture.
