>>11116727>>11116735The definition of algebra has changed quite a lot. Euler's Elements of Algebra is, nowadays, considered more of a number theory book than an algebra book. In fact, it has even some calculus in it. The modern definition of "algebra" was invented precisely for the ease of the non-mathematicians stuck teaching "algebra" to non-sentient subhuman kids who will never get it either way. What is algebra today can be scattered in many textbooks, but even if you find a textbook literally about algebraic manipulation from like the ancient Chinese, they will quickly devolve into esoteric approximation methods rather than what you'd expect today.
Algebra basically doesn't exist.
