guys, i need help.

I'm a non-premed chemistry major, and a professor finally gave me the chance to join a chemistry lab. i'm going visit their lab on monday

However i currently have long hair, which is unsafe in lab and keeps falling in my eyes. so i'm thinking about getting my head shaved today at the barber shop in order to resolve this issue, make it easier to be in a lab safely.

however, my dad me that it's "weird" to suddenly show up somewhere with a shaved head when you've had long hair for a while. he recommends i cut it "nice and short, like it used to be" but i think that's dumb. if you're gonna get hair removed, why not just shave all of it so you don't have to get it removed as often?

could the chemistry professor turn me down if i suddenly show up with a shaved head, because of some werid social rule? i hope the science world is better than that
