I've never seen it be a part of the humanities department since it's a subfield of anthropology. The classes may be considered as part of both, but always anthropology/social sciences.

Linguistics uses a fair bit of Logic. To boil it down into science actually degrades it. There should be a new board called /ml/ math & logic that way you would get away with this post.

Spend that time learning an actual, natural language. Linguistics is alluring for whatever reason to wikipedia autists, but it's a retarded thing to actually study if you don't know at least 3 or 5 languages.
