back in my bluepilled days i assumed all doctors were competent. it took a few misdiagnoses to realize that i can do a better job with the internet than a doctor can. by looking up my symptoms and thinking about it, i can get a more accurate diagnosis than a doctor can. examples:
> be me> family member gets scabies, isn't diagnosed for a month, and finally gets the meds which fix the problem.> hang out with that family member during contagious time> get extreme itching> go to doc (here, i censor one demographic fact about the doctor because this is a blue board), tell him i have scabies since i was exposed to someone who had scabies and now itch> he looks at my hands and doesn't see the "tracks" which are symptomatic of scabies> tells me i don't have it> prescribes "steroid cream" which i don't pick up because it's not what i need> symptoms persist for a week> go to different doctor (here, i censor two demographic facts about the doctor because this is a blue board)> tell her what's going on> she checks my hands with a "tape+microscope" test, says it looks positive, prescribes anti-scabies medicine> she asks me if the steroid medicine the last doc prescribed helped. she then pauses to think about what she just said.> i pick up the medicine and treat my disease> cost of medicine: $40> cost of my time and doctor time due to the medical monopoly: $400> insurance payments for coverage i don't use because it's a major PITA: $4000bring back individual responsibility. medicine is expensive because it's a one-size-fits-all monopoly.
