Why exactly would an artificial intelligence want sex and why couldn’t it just simulate sex or make sex bots?

I think it's more likely that civilizations and/or their resultant AI would realize space colonization is a poor waste of resources and they'd rather just chill and simulate reality on their home planet. Queue simulation arguments 3... 2... 1...
