That's the problem with these "lot of things" that aliens explain. Sure, you could say that it's aliens... but there's always also another reasonable explanation that doesn't involve aliens. The core problem is that if you're willing to ignore the reasonable, normal explanations, a person who is so predisposed could blame literally any conceivable event on aliens. Oh I left my hotdog outside for 5 hours and now it's gone? Will maybe a pigeon stole it... nah, it's aliens! Oh there are some weeds growing on my lawn that weren't there last week... must have been aliens left them there! etc
