as an introduction to the concepts that are important for the subject. Followed by a more rigorous treatment from any standard ochem text book so you can know the different reactions. To be honest a class is the best bet for this just because there is a lot of possible organic chemistry.
lehninger's is the classic biochemistry textbook to go to after you finish organic chemistry. There are a couple other easier ones, but that is the most comprehensive text.
Molecular Biology of the Cell
Is the classic tome of cellular biology that will be helpful in orienting yourself. It is very dense though so be prepared.
Throughout this you should be able to start physical chemistry in statistical thermodynamics to help nail your kinetics and then moving to quantum to understand wtf is actually going on. I used Atkins for pchem.
It sounds like you want biologic drugs. If so then you 100% need to do computational chemistry, I self-taught myself most of that. Rosetta is probably the best bet you have for a protein targeting program and drug design. Read papers out of David Baker's and Brian Kuhlman's lab. Although that is further down the line. Pick up bash, python, and matlab at the very least.
