What scientific fact gave you anxiety as a kid?

Stumbled upon pic related gif when I was about 12, after watching some documentary on national geographic about asteroids.

I couldn't fucking sleep for weeks, thought "what's the point, we might as well all be dead any day now", had nobody to talk to and comfort me with this fact. First time I got depressed probably and unmotivated to do anything for couple of weeks.
