Sometimes I envy those aristocrats of the XIXth century which were rich enough they could do it for shit and giggles.
That said I think we're seeing the slow death of literature, ever since the radio has been invented people:
1) read less and less
2) read things of worse and worse quality
Both while the production has exploded (which means more garbage to navigate through).
The competition for attention between radio, youtube, streaming, series, video games, tv, social media, etc... seems to be a race to the bottom.
