Chemistry requires a fair bit of synthetic practice, and even then just making something wont get you far as you need some way of identifying youve actually made what you think you made. In some countries its easier to get hold of the equipment and precursers than others.
Its perfectly possible to teach yourself the theory. For chemistry get a the Clayden textbook and Answer manual and then just work through that, be sure to do the problems because wrote learning isnt enough and chemistry at degree level is never "if I add these two together what will I get" and more, "without using this, and going via the safest route, how do I get x, if I only have A,C,D,Y, and Z, without making W or V in the process, and at least a 75% non racemic yield"
Are you going to university? If so I would just top up on mathematics and some general ideas. Read why chemical reactions happen (a good book btw)
