Not fully. Most of the "smart but lazy" NEETs would probably fare no better than the average person and achieve similar outcomes, assuming they actually tried. For the most part is just a cope phrase for their mediocrity.

Maybe it just proves 8th grade is mostly busy work.

Having a good work ethic will help regardless of IQ but there are probably some tasks that will be impossible if your IQ is too low no matter how much effort you give.

This is exactly the lazy BS answer that reinforces preconceived perceptions and is backed by zero evidence that I didn’t want. I mean executive control does originate in the prefrontal cortex and you can increase grey matter in that area by exercising it but there are some ways of exercise that are better than others.
For instance nofap my be an exercise of self control but it can also lead to lower testosterone levels and increased depression thus decreasing brain function, including the prefrontal cortex.
Some exercise is more helpful than other while some can be counter productive. Telling people to just resist what temps them is both lazy and potentially damaging.
