We created numbers, and weight, and everything else in order to suit our needs. Matter is energy, so to further improve on that idea we made measurement systems to separate everything there is.
So if matter is condensed energy, it means it has an exorbitatn number of "something" be it atoms, be it something else, so because this number is "countless" is is infinite.
Our universe is in continuos expansion, which means the universe is infinite. Becasue we didn't find it's margin, yet.
