There's no medium in space, so heat doesn't propagate.

didnt know that
so the main thing i missed out is that thermal radiation is not that much noticeable for low temperatures like hot drink in thermos so that vacuum between thermos shells can actually play important role?

well heat in liquids is carried by the motions of the liquid's molecules. so then less external stuff to bump into, the less energy will be carried away. that's why air is a better insulator than a dense metal

Both sides of the blanket shown are silvery. Allows you to keep warm and also to serve as a shelter for extreme heat in a different environment. Think of the windshield covers on cars and how they reflect heat.
