only problem is that we are in the position where string theory is massively failing at being predictive and the breadcrumbs that might lead to helping it get out of the rut it’s in confound even the greatest geniuses like witten. we’ve known that M theory supposedly exists since 1995 but nobody has managed to actually write down anything that resembles what M theory actually is. string/M theory and even F theory are all much smarter than even our greatest theorists, and i don’t think the way theorists are trained today is meeting the challenge of really tackling these obvious theoretical problems
