Math is a logical deconstruction of real world problems. All those weird symbols are a result of people trying to turn situations into intuitive models. Through that level of abstraction it becomes possible to to deepen our understanding of things and allow us to create new rules and definitions. It is a continuous loop. Reality becomes an object of fantasy and vice versa objects of fantasy become reality through logic

All of which have easy to describe real world applications
Linear is literally everywhere. Abstract algebra has applications for error correcting codes, cryptography, algorithms, complexity, etc. in CS. And of course there’s the applications of Lie groups in physics. Algebra is really powerful and really important

You don’t need me to tell you how basic arithmetic with variables (aka algebra 1 in middle school) is useful
