The singularity is the point where the automation self evolves beyond the ability of humans to do.
For MOST people alive today they are experiencing a "post singularity" life. Africa is a technological desert. Smart phones just "appear", no one in Africa makes them or designs them. Africans buy them and use them but for all practical purposes they have no influence on how the smart phones are made or designed, they just "magically" are.
When the singularity happens for "us", things will seem normal. The difference being that the devices that appear will not be designed or built by humans.
How the machines make the products and arrange for the parts to be produced is entirely beyond a human understanding.
