But some of that is clearly wrong. Autistic people have ridiculous tolerance to pain, heat and cold. (It is necessary to warn parents that if their child scream in pain, they are probably dying and need to be taken to hospital ASAP) Those who are not are likely the misdiagnosed schizophreniacs as I mentioned. Also it'S the schizophrenic brains that show accelerated aging, while autistic brains essentiall never fully mature.
Autistic people have good imagination, it's just .. different kind of imagination that you can see in other people. Definitely not reduced. It's more like there is a higher need for consistency of their imaginations, which could be interpreted as a lack of imagination when they reject the fantasies of others.
The literalness comes from the deeper analysis.
It's more like unwillingess to deceive, or perhaps poor understanding when it is possible to deceive.
Local processing is true, but it's important to understand it means local refering to brain location. So autistic people show highly holistic porcessing, but in one domain only (e.g. vision, hearing, language) but have difficulty with cross domain connections (e.g. using lip-reading to disambiguate sounds in noise)
It is true that autistic people rarely find smoking enjoyable, or use any other drugs.
