Because each eye possesses two consecutive lenses which allows you to posses a FOV of around 130° per eye, most of it overlap between two eyes (which is what allows depth perception).

Then your occipital cortex merges the two images into one and gives you the impression you see through your hand (since one eye see what's behind your hand while the other doesn't).
